Hello and welcome to my blog! My name is Cassidy and I am currently a student at the University of Michigan studying environmental science. My work experiece in high school (I spent several years working in the kitchen of an upscale restaurant), as well as my current job (at a local plant conservatory) have helped shaped my interest in plants and how we use them, specifically how we have historically cooked with them! However, I am also interested in other historic and cultural human uses of plants, including their uses as medicines, their appearances in folklore and literature, as well as current issues pertaining to them. In this blog, I plan to explore everything from ancient meals (while documenting my experience recreating them) to the effects climate change is currently having on flora found across the globe. I hope you’ll join me as we dig up forgotten recipes and explore the roots of the human connection to plants on Harvesting History.
